Tim was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. After graduating from high school, he joined the U. S. Marine Corps where he served in a special operations unit that performed waterborne raids using Zodiac rubber rafts. This unit presented a great opportunity for Tim as a member of a hostage rescue team and he received extensive training with both rifles and handguns.
After graduating from Colorado State University with a degree in Business Finance in 1997, Tim joined the Colorado State Patrol. Tim quickly became a range officer with the State Patrol and later, a Rifle Instructor. In the last two years that the State Patrol conducted a statewide competition with all uniformed members, Tim won the expert class each year. Don is a firearms expert, carries a Federal Firearms License, has been a lifelong firearms and shooting enthusiast, has shot competitively for nearly 20 years, and has been an instructor for over 10 years. Don is a National Rifle Association Certified Instructor. Don is a Colorado native and graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management.
